Urgent; Valet Operations

Judging from the site observations of many ‘dented’ detergent drums and ‘impact damaged’ jet wash machines, overshooting the valet parking bay is a common occurrence.

Last week we had yet another terrible instance of a technician having a leg crushed against a wall by a car. The injuries are serious and will keep him off work at least 3 months.

Preventive Measures;
  • No one is to be in front of cars entering the valet area.
  • Ensure the valet area is segregated from pedestrian access.

Protective Measures;
  • Place barriers e.g. kerb stones, across the end of valet areas in order that cars cannot enter too far and hit the end wall, or, otherwise encroach on pedestrian areas.
  • People driving cars on site must be licensed.
  • People driving cars for valet operations must wear safety shoes with non-slip soles.
  • Ensure adequate drainage of wet valet areas, regularly remove mud and detergent.
